10 & 20 Ton Railcar Facility Overhead Cranes (#17829)

Project Description:
G.W. Becker, Inc. commissioned twenty-one (21) new 10 & 20 ton electric overhead traveling cranes for a railcar manufacturer in Alabama.  These 3-motion severe service EOT cranes were designed for indoor use with 87’ – 114’ spans, 45’ of lift, and operated by radio control.  The hoists design included flux vector control specifically designed for a hoist without a mechanical load brake. The travel drives were designed with infinitely variable control and offer state of the art precision handling for extremely smooth control and minimal maintenance. We provided overhead crane specification development assistance to the owner, incorporating interchangeability of mechanical componentry resulting in reduced capital outlay of spare parts. This turnkey project included the new EOT cranes, delivery, installation and commissioning to meet all current applicable CMAA, OSHA, ANSI/ASME, and NEC specifications.
