“In late 2004, a comprehensive inspection program was initiated to evaluate the overall condition of the plant cranes. The inspections revealed serious safety, structural and electrical problems on most overhead cranes. The maintenance department was tasked with developing a plan to address and resolve these issues. In most cases, the costs to repair and the associated downtime were excessive and not feasible. As a result, our company contacted several vendors to explore the possibility of replacing some/all overhead cranes.
