EMPLOYMENT – ESTIMATOR

The Estimator Level I position be responsible for providing material, labor and time estimates and proposals for capital equipment projects, while establishing base cost standards and maintain costing data base through development of costing spreadsheets and links to assure efficient estimating procedures. This position focuses on using technical, organizational, customer knowledge and experience to complete tasks required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review proposal log for assigned proposals/quotes.
  • Work on proposals/quotes as assigned.
  • Review and understand customer specifications and/or drawings to qualify customer’s needs and requests.
  • Work on proposals/quotes as assigned.
  • Research previous jobs for comparable builds.
  • Review jobs actual costs for comparison to estimate in order to evaluate accuracy of quoting process.
  • Adjust comparable jobs as necessary to conform to the current bid.
  • Prepares formal proposal/quote, with detail to be presented.
  • Review proposal for all customer requirements.
  • Spells out equipment specification, delivery, payment terms, lead times and terms and conditions.
  • Have firm understanding of all vendor product lines and how they will be best applying to the customer’s needs.
  • Contact vendors directly through vendor websites for major commercial components.
  • Suggest alternatives / options to be presented to the customer by Inside Sales Engineers and/or Regional Sales Managers.
  • Communicates as required (Any Sales Order or Customer Change) with Sales, Engineering, Accounting, Purchasing, Production and Service.
  • Revise quotes as needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Review and process customer purchase order to ensure that it accurately matches the initial quote with regards to specification, pricing, payment terms and sales margins.
  • Serves as support staff for the Regional Sales Managers, Inside Sales Engineers, Parts Manager, Engineering Staff, Purchasing Staff, Production Staff, Service Staff and others as needed.
  • Consult with Engineers and other technical staff as needed.
  • Selection of steel sizing using charts and information when available.
  • Establish base standard item pricing for quotes.
  • Create and maintain costing data base.
  • Develop costing spreadsheets and links to assure efficient estimating procedures.
  • Develop cost standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually an office setting.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Regular hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Additional hours and weekends will be required/expected as needed.

 

TRAVEL

This position does not require travel.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, general education degree (GED), Trade school, equivalent training or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Level 3 Field Service Technician will have 3 -5 years on the job experience.

 

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Current valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
