65 Ton Outdoor Gantry Crane (#16971)

Project Description:
G.W. Becker, Inc. commissioned a new heavy service 65/30 Ton outdoor gantry crane for a ship building and repair facility in Tennessee. This turnkey project entailed repurposing an existing 85/30 on top running double girder overhead crane and modifying it to a 65/30ton double legged gantry. We worked closely with the customer to re-use an existing asset for their desired application. We designed and fabricated four (4) new gantry legs, new gantry leg bracing and sills, and new girder end ties. To gain access to the elevated cab, we designed and manufactured new ladder access from the ground to the bridge footwalk. We fabricated an enclosed cab with mini-master controls, attaching the cab to one end of the 103′ span bridge. To prevent unwarranted crane operation during high winds, we provided and installed a wind velocity activated rail clamp system. Rail clamp system included win velocity activated switch, rail clamps and hydraulics. G.W. Becker, Inc. provided all materials, labor, equipment and supervision for installing the gantry crane.
