15 TON OVERHEAD CRANES (#20843)

Project Description:
G.W. Becker, Inc. commissioned two (2) new 15 ton electric overhead traveling cranes for a tube/pipe producer in Western Pennsylvania.  Required for an addition to the customer’s facility, these 4-motion heavy service EOT cranes were designed to be installed on new runway system of 78’ span and 35’ of lift. The twin 7.5 ton hoists were designed on a single trolley with 13’ center twin hooks and included flux vector control specifically designed for a hoist without a mechanical load brake. The travel drives were designed with infinitely variable control and offer state of the art precision handling for extremely smooth control and minimal maintenance.  The new cranes were equipped with open cabs suspended from the G1 footwalks.  A 4-motion, ‘Belly Box’ radio control was included for each crane as a second mode of operation during material handling with a radio/cab transfer.  This turnkey project included the new EOT cranes, runway electrification extension, and installation to meet all current applicable CMAA, OSHA, ANSI/ASME, and NEC specifications.
