15 TON OVERHEAD CRANE (#23650)

Project Description:
G.W. Becker, Inc. commissioned a new 15 ton electric overhead traveling crane for a tube/pipe producer in Western Pennsylvania.  This new crane replaces an existing EOT crane used in the customer’s testing department.  The 3-motion severe service EOT crane was designed to be installed on an existing runway system of 52’ span and 30’ of lift. The twin 7.5 ton hoists designed on a single trolley with 6’ center twin hooks included flux vector control specifically designed for a hoist without a mechanical load brake. The travel drive is designed with infinitely variable control and offers state of the art precision handling for extremely smooth control and minimal maintenance.  The new crane is equipped with an enclosed cab suspended from the G1 girder.  A 3-motion, 5-speed ‘Belly Box’ radio control is included as a second mode of operation.  This turnkey project included the new EOT cranes, runway electrification, and installation to meet all current applicable CMAA, OSHA, ANSI/ASME, and NEC specifications.
