12 Ton Tube Handling Cranes (#15669)

Project Description:
G.W. Becker, Inc. commissioned two (2) new 12 ton 4-motion heavy service electric overhead traveling crane for a steel pipe and tube manufacturer in Pennsylvania.  We worked closely with the owner’s engineering and construction team for this turnkey project of design and manufacturing the cranes, new electrification and installation of the two units.  The overhead cranes have a 112” span and 31’ of lift.  An eight (8) wheel bridge design spreads the loads out over four wheels at each end of the bridge allowing the runway rail size to be reduced and the runway girders themselves to be lighter weight.  Each crane has two (2) ACCO Wright, Century Series “Work-Rated”, deck mounted hoists with mechanical load brakes integrated on a G.W. Becker, Inc. designed and manufactured trolley at 8’ centers, parallel to the runway.  Having two overhead cranes operating within close proximity, an Anti-Collision System was mounted on the bridge between each crane.
