110/30 TON DC HOT METAL LADLE CRANE (#22030)

Project Description:
G.W. Becker, Inc. manufactured a new 110/30 ton electric overhead traveling hot metal ladle crane for a steel producer in Pennsylvania.  This new crane is a replacement for an antiquated unit in the customer’s teeming aisle.  This high-speed, 230 VDC, 4-motion continuous severe service EOT crane was designed to be installed on an existing runway system of 58’ span and 55’ of lift.  This mill duty crane has an eight (8) wheel bridge design with equalizing end trucks and end ties with yokes and bogey pins, A-5 type bridge drive with foot mounted parallel shaft reducers with foot mounted drives, high temp wiring and motors for high ambient temperature range of 320 F to 1400 F.  Main hoist designed with interlocked dual drums and synchronized worm gear drives reeved into common ladle hanger. Turnkey project included the new EOT crane, upgrading runway electrification and supervision of installation to meet all current applicable CMAA, OSHA, ANSI/ASME, and NEC specifications.
