10 Ton CVA Crane (#16317)

Project Description:
G.W. Becker, Inc. commissioned a new 10 ton 3-motion heavy service electric overhead traveling crane for a manufacturer of titanium based metal products in Ohio, replacing an antiquated unit, used in the customer’s annealing department.  This EOT crane was designed to be installed on an existing runway system of 53’ span and 30’ of lift.  The hoist, designed for true-vertical lift, included flux vector control specifically designed for a hoist without a mechanical load brake. The travel drives were designed with infinitely variable control and offer state of the art precision handling for extremely smooth control and minimal maintenance.  A long-term plan was established for replacement of several units in the plant, utilizing duplicate componentry, resulting in reduced capital outlay of spare parts.   This turnkey project included the new EOT crane, runway electrification, delivery, installation and commissioning to meet all current applicable CMAA, OSHA, ANSI/ASME, and NEC specifications.
