Job Description
GWBI is looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor to oversee the operations of the machining department, ensuring efficient production, high quality standards and team management. This position requires a minimum of 10 years’ experience with Horizontal Boring Mills and CNC Vertical and Horizontal lathe machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Review current programs, files, drawings (book/computer files), and set up and organize for easy reference – cross reference.
- Manage existing personnel with jobs and provide training for new employees to improve skills and enhance performance.
- Generate and maintain tooling lists for both perishable and nonperishable tools for easy reference, replacement, and use.
- Set up / label tooling areas.
- Review speeds/feeds and tooling for optimum production to increase efficiency for machining area.
- Make recommendations for new tooling/ fab’d or purchased to enable additional opportunities to run on CNC vs Manual.
- Work to set benchmarks for production.
- Provide status updates on a daily output, quality issues, costs and safety, delays, and any challenges that may occur.
- Wok on scheduling of machine parts for optimum set up times where possible.
- Review and make recommendations for equipment, both for purchase or auction.

- Knowledge of raw materials, production process, quality control, costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

- Work with little or no supervision. Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner.
- Demonstrate persistence and overcome obstacles.
- Be able to work with Mills of Materials and shop routers.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Observe safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
- Must be able to lift / move up to 100 lbs.
Qualifications
- Requires minimum 10 years machining experience with Horizontal Boring Mills and CNC lathes.
- Must have programming experience.
- Must have supervisory experience.
