We were excited to be selected as a partner company for the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing? video contest, an initiative that introduces middle school students to the world of modern manufacturing through hands-on storytelling. This year, we had the pleasure of working with a bright and enthusiastic team from Hickory Middle School, who created a fun and engaging video showcasing the many career opportunities available at G.W. Becker, Inc.
The students took a creative spin on their project by producing a “breaking news” segment, capturing their experience as they explored our facility and learned firsthand what makes manufacturing so cool. Their video highlighted a wide range of roles within our company—from the shop floor to the front office—including production, engineering, sales, accounting, and administrative support.
We were thrilled to give the students a full tour of our operations and introduce them to the people who help design, build, and support the overhead cranes that keep so many industries moving. Their energy, curiosity, and fresh perspective were a great reminder of why programs like this matter.
At the awards ceremony, their hard work was recognized with the “Most Creative” award, and we couldn’t be prouder.
Our CEO, Chris Becker, also served as the keynote speaker at the event, where he shared words of encouragement to inspire students to consider manufacturing as a rewarding and meaningful career path.
We’d also like to extend our congratulations to all of the participating schools and contest winners—every team brought something unique to the table, and the creativity on display was inspiring to see.
Special thanks to the Lawrence Mercer Manufacturers Coalition, Penn-Northwest Development Corporation, and all of the event sponsors for helping to organize and support this valuable program in our region.
It was an incredible experience all around, and we’re grateful to have been part of it. Congratulations again to the Hickory team!
